This is an original press photo. 780 pounds of cop---These three members of the Sparta police force represents 780 pounds of policemen. What's more, the entire force of nine men has an average weight of 218 pounds. The officer on the scale is Patrolman Alton Solberg. The scale does him no good as he needs one that goes over 315 pounds. Adjusting the weights to the maximum of 300 is Chief of Police C. E. Lehman who tips in at 210 with Captain of Police Carl Schultz, a 255 pounder, in the center. Others on the force and their weights are: Desk Sergeant Lee Rooker, 185; Traffic Patrolman Ervin Edwards, 206; Relief Patrolman Ray Grucza, 234; Patrolman Harold Hovland, 245, and the lightweights, Matt Rice, 155, and Dave McFall, 158.
