This is an original press photo. Fifty years of motor transport progress pass in review as the automotive industry turns back the pages of history to observe its Golden Jubilee at Detroit. GMC Truck & Coach Division of General Motors is a pioneer in the field of commercial transport and the largest exclusive producer of commercial vehicles. Top: One of the first "built for the purpose" taxicabs, this GMC electric appeared on the streets of South Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, in 1912 Center: One of Detroit's first motor trucks, this 1902 model is the "Grandfather" of today's powerful GMCs. Bottom: A far cry from its direct descendant -- the modern GM coach -- this 1910 omnibus carried sightseers around Denver. It had a 30 hp engine and oil lamps.
