This is an original press photo. Co-chairmen of the Pan American sports committee, Michael J. McDermott (right) and Ald. Ralph H. Metcalfe (3d) (center) view model of outfit American girl contestants will wear in Pan Am games. Also present at Chicago Water Tower is Jesse Owens. All three are former Olympic stars.

Michael "Mike" J. McDermott (January 18, 1893 - October 1970) was an American breaststroke swimmer and water polo player who competed in the 1912 Summer Olympics and in the 1920 Summer Olympics (Wikipedia)

Ralph Harold Metcalfe (May 30, 1910 - October 10, 1978) was an African-American athlete and politician who came second to Jesse Owens in the 1936 Berlin Olympics. Metcalfe jointly held the world record for the 100 meter sprint. Metcalfe was known as the world's fastest human from 1932 through 1934. He later went into politics and served in the United States Congress (Wikipedia).

James Cleveland "Jesse" Owens (September 12, 1913 - March 31, 1980) was an American track and field athlete who specialized in the sprints and the long jump. He participated in the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin, Germany, where he achieved international fame by winning four gold medals: one each in the 100 meters, the 200 meters, the long jump, and as part of the 4x100 meter relay team. He was the most successful athlete at the 1936 Summer Olympics, a victory more poignant and often noted because Adolf Hitler had intended the 1936 games to showcase his Aryan ideals and prowess (Wikipedia)Photo measures 8 x 10inches.
