This is an original press photo. Scene near Wolf and Palatine rds., Wheeling twp., where farm of Erwin Alten adjoins Palwaukee Airport. Alten plans to build a 25-foot tall corn crib at spot now occupied by old fence at left, about 50 feet from the end of the airport's northwest runway. The airport is seeking to prevent the construction as a hazard to planes, but has been unable to find anything in the county zoning laws to support its stand. Arrow shows line of approach to runway, with point of arrow almost touching the runway's end. Plane at right is on turn-around lane beyond end of runway.

Today, a thriving Chicago Executive Airport (Palwaukee Airport), serves the general and business aviation sector, and is the third busiest airport in Illinois, after O'Hare International and Midway. Approximately three hundred aircraft are based on the field and approximately 200,000 take-offs and landings occur annually. ( measures 10 x 8inches. Photo is dated 02-02-1962.
