This is an original press photo. Loren Underwood, 24, boy scout and life-saving hero, who turned bandit, now faces 10 years to life in Colorado State Prison. Underwood, pointed out by Denver families as an example to small boys, was caught by police during a holdup. He had rented a car for $11, and his loot from two holdups, $15.07, left $4.07, half of which he gave to his partner in crime, Paul Scheike, 19. Thus the ex-choir singer got $2.035 for his reputation, liberty, faith of fellow men and possibly the death of his sick wife. Besides singing in the church choir, Underwood taught Sunday school, worked regularly, and wears a medal for saving the life of a boy at a lake. "I don't know why I did it," Underwood says, "I didn't need the money."Photo measures 6 x 7.75inches. Photo is dated 11-23-1925.
