This is an original press photo. Formerly aviators have not dared to make a parachute jump from a plane unless they were more than 200 feet from the ground. This new 'chute, invented by James R. Russell can open more quickly and has a higher safety factor than the older style. An aviator can jump from a height of 80 feet with safety. It was successfully demonstrated at San Diego, Calif. Photo measures 8.5 x 6.75 inches. Photo is dated 02-15-1927.
