Photo measures 7 x 9. The fire test section of the Bureau of Standards is still "hot" on the trail of unsafe safes. Before a safe can be accepted for Government use, a duplicate of it must undergo a test of 30 minutes of intense heat, then a thirty foot drop upon a hard surface, then be reheated again for thirty more minutes. If it survives all this, and many of them do, it is then placed on the approved list. N.D. Mitchell of the Bureau is seen inspecting a safe in the heating chamber before turning on the flames.
