Photo measures 8 x 10. Three prisoners escaped from the new Seattle jail on the top of the County-City building by a rope made of canvas mattress covers sewn together, shown here as it still hung from the window by which they fled. County officials can't complain of the quality of their mattress covers. The men sawed through two sets of one-inch bars. The fugitives are Adrian Huffman, George Leland Hoover and Joe C. Burns, all convicted robbers.
