This is an original press photo. This strange looking animal is a catalo, the only living male offspring from a bison bull and a domestic cow. He is now being driven across the country to interest cattlemen in what his owner, Leland C. Wilson, calls a larger and superior breed of livestock. The catalo is supposed to have a longer life span, resist tuberculosis and blackleg, dress a greater percent of higher priced cuts of beef and bear valuable fur. The cows are said to give rich milk. The catalo, so its owner claims, needs no shelter in cold climate. Photo measures 8 x 6inches. Photo is dated 06-30-1937.
