This is an original press photo. The Philippines- On the tiny tip of Bataan on the island of Luzon, a tiny army of American and Philippine soldiers is gearing up a record that will go down in history as one of the most brilliant military accomplishments so far in the war. Gen. Douglas MacArthur's troops, though outnumbered more than 20 to 1, have out-fought and out-maneuvered a Japanese army of 200,000 men, upsetting the Nipponese Time-table of Pacific conquest and giving the United Nations their only ray of hope so far for a reverse into aggressive action to drive the invaders back into their own territory. In this photo, one never before published, is shown the type of country over which the action is fought. It is a tiny coconut farm on Luzon, with a native woman doing her wash in a jungle stream. Photo measures 7 x 9inches. Photo is dated 03-03-1942.
