This is an original press photo. Shown in flight here is XB-36 U.S. Army's newest bombing plane and largest land based bomber in world. Huge plane which dwarfs B-29 Superfortress that carried war to Japan has six motors which give it a take off power of 18.000 horsepower compared with B-29's 8.800. Wingspan of XB-36 is 230 feet compared with 141 feet for superfort's 99 feet. Gross weight of this mighty bomber is 135 tons. On short range bombing missions it could carry 30 tons of bombs. It could carry 10,000 pounds for 10,000 miles of from San Francisco to Tokyo Japan and return. As a troop transport XB-36 could carry 400 Infantry men fully equipped a commercial version of bomber is expected to carry 204 passengers in luxurious style. Photo measures 10 x 8.25 inches.
