This is an original press photo. Re-enacting a historic flight, this replica of a 1909 airplane prepared to land at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland after a 25 mile journey from Baltimore. The cloth and wood craft made the trip in about 40 minutes. Pilot Frank Tallman of Glenview, Illinois, flew almost blinded by the wind after his helmet and goggles blew off. The flight re-enacted Louis Bleriot's flight across the English channel July 25, 1909 as a part of the 50th anniversary celebration of the Air Force.
