This is an original press photo. It was a sweet flight with no problems at all. John K. Moody of Milwaukee said after completing what he believed was the nation's first open country flight in a motorized hang glider Tuesday. His 55 pound Icarus II, equipped with a 90 pound, 12 1/2 horsepower go-cart or minibike type motor, hauled Moody, who weighs 155 pounds, 16 miles from the Waukesha Airport. He stopped twice to refuel. These photos were taken at the Waukesha Airport as Moody prepared for the flight, ran for takeoff and became airborne. Moody said he planned to refine the aircraft and try to market it for about $1,200.Photo measures 6 x 9.5inches. Photo is dated 09-24-1975.
