This is an original press photo. Childhood memories and family stories are crowding into the mind of Leontine (Lonnie) Davis this year, the 75th anniversary of the Wright brothers' first flight. Mrs. Davis of Bayside is a grandniece of the flight pioneers.
She recalls, for example, such things as "Orville was a natty dresser and Wilbur couldn't care less about his clothes," And that her mother - who was the Wright brother' niece - was the first little girl in the United States to go up in a plane. Her mother, Mrs. Davis said, had read about a little girl in Europe who had flown. She asked her uncles if they would take her up and they oblidged.Photo measures 7.75 x 9.5inches.
