This is an original press photo. Milwaukee Journal photographer Michael Sears (left) used a remote-controlled camera Saturday to make tis photograph of an American Aerolights Eagle ultralight in the air over Wittman Field at Oshkosh. The craft was piloted by Bryan Allen who pedaled and piloted the Gossamer Albatross across the English Channel in June 1979. Allen's cross-channel flight was the longest man-powered flight in history and won a $200,000 price. The distortion in the photograph was caused by the use of an extreme wide angle lens on the camera, mounted on the aircraft. The International Ultralight Convention continues through today at Oshkosh. Ultralight Aero.Photo measures 8 x 10inches. Photo is dated 06-26-1983.
