This is an original press photo. Finishing touches...a Northrop Corporation technician applies the finishing touches to the mirror-like surface of one of the giant fuselage panels that Northrop produces for the Boeing 747 jetliner. Northrop builds the 153-foot-long main fuselage section and several doors for the 747 at its Aircraft Division in Hawthorne, California. Since the 747 program began more than two decades ago, Northrop has won 17 annual Pride in Excellence awards from Boeing for meeting cost and quality goals. Northrop reduced its material costs in 196 alone by 14 percent. The company has produced nearly 19,000 fuselage panels and more than 6,000 doors for the 747. Photo measures 10 x 8.25 inches.
